Abstract:
The interaction of copper hexafluoroacetylacetonate Cu(hfac)2 with Ullmann's diradical, i.e., 2,2-bis(1-oxyl-3-oxide-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolinyl) (L), was studied. Methods for the synthesis and preparation of the single crystals of three molecular complexes, [Cu(hfac)2(L)Cu(hfac)2], [Cu(hfac)2L][Cu(hfac)2(H2O)2], and [Cu(hfac)2(L)Cu(hfac)2]·C6H14, and the chain polymer, [Cu(hfac)2L], with trans-coordination of the diradical were developed. It was established that in the [Cu(hfac)2(L)Cu(hfac)2] molecule, a decrease in temperature induces a change in the direction of the elongated axis in the square bipyramid of the Cu atom. An analysis of the magnetic properties of [Cu(hfac)2(L)Cu(hfac)2] and [Cu(hfac)2L] and calculations of the exchange-interaction parameters between Cu and L and within L, carried out for all complexes, showed the dominance of the antiferromagnetic nature of the exchange interactions.
